Empire Poker Review Synopsis Empire Poker has lots of action with many table choices, the have a good selection of games with an excellent selection of limits. Their tournament offerings are excellent in both limits and choices, with a full range of single table tournaments that start at nine PM eastern time. The also have a variety of multi table tournaments available. Support is excellent with a chat client and/or 800 number available for real money players; for play money tech support you still need to resort to email. They offer a 20% deposit bonus for new players. They have a regularly scheduled free roll tournament for real money players and offer various other promotions from time to time. They offer play money games and tournaments and these are often filled to capacity making it difficult at times to get into a game. The game and lobby software is excellent. Since they share a server and players with Party Poker there is always lots of action with sometimes over 6000 players online at once. The shuffle security is rated as lacking. The two rooms are separate in some respects, they both have diffirent promotions and marketing. The software at Empire Poker has everything that you would expect. The play in turn buttons are well done, not being confusing at all. The game action is easy to follow. Bet and pot sizes are represented as graphic casino checks and text. The timeout warning is not displayed in the chat window but rather a small window pops up with a tone making it obvious to all that time is running out. The chat window is a little small, compared to some other clients. The scope of the chat is adjustable to several levels. The text is black for the dealer dialogue and blue for chat between players. Games statistics are available and while not as rich as some they are informative and simple to use. Player notes are also available. The games move very quickly. The software does not get in the way of the action. The action itself is updated quickly and accurately on the game screen. It is overall a pleasure to play, you can focus on your game without having to spend a lot of time figuring out the software. The lobby is well laid out. Play money and real money games are easy to find. Information about the average pot size is offered. Lacking is the number of hands per hour. The lobby has three main tabs for tournaments, real money games and play money games. In each sub window is another set of tabs for the game or tournament choices. Game listings can be sorted by, table name, limit, seated players, or average pot size. The lobby has an extensive drop down menu bar where banking, tech support and links to any other area of the game client and web site are available. Empire Poker has done an outstanding job designing an elegant work of software.
Player traffic: Player traffic is Empire Poker's most obvious and most important asset. You can log on to Empire Poker and find over 12,000 other poker players at the tables. This is an extremely important trait in an online poker room, as that amount of players will assure you of finding the game you want at the betting level you like to play. At lower-traffic poker rooms, you can often have difficultyEmpire Poker, in combination with Party Poker, is by far and away the biggest and most popular online poker room. All of the buttons you need are in front of you when you need them, and the interface is carefully designed and not cluttered. It's easy and straightforward to move between real money and play money games, as well as to navigate between various game types. In summary, if you're considering signing up for Empire Poker, you won't regret it if you decide to do so. With the highest player traffic online, a top-notch playing experience, a wide selection of tournaments, and superb customer service, you can't go wrong with Empire Poker. Best of luck at the tables. At Empire poker, you will find yourself in awe at the amount of players and tables that are available. The reason for this is that they share the same players and format with party poker. Basically, this means that you will be playing at the biggest poker source on the net..
Because of the huge number of players here, you are guaranteed to find the game and type of players with the limit you want which fits your budget and mood. Their payouts are exceptionally fast and their support is top notch. I sent an email asking the standard idiotic question as to what 5/10 means and I received a well written, personalised answer within 10 minutes. I have not received an answer this fast from any poker room yet. Why is the Shuffle at Empire Poker rated lacking? Empire uses a strong cryptographic PRNG for their shuffle. It is a non linear PRNG which means that the results are unpredictable, while this makes for a good secure shuffle it also means that a lot of testing needs to be done to assure that there is no bias. A non-linear PRNG is not designed to assure that each number has an equal chance of coming out; they are designed to assure that any sequence of random numbers produced are unpredictable, not statistically correct. Extra steps need be taken to assure an unbiased shuffle, by reading their game fairness page it is not clear rather or not these steps have been taken. Empire Poker does have a Certificate of Random Number Generator Evaluation from BMM International, However, the tests involved to receive this certification or not available at either the Empire Poker or BMM Int. Websites. This alone is not that big of an issue, a secure PRNG can be used for simulation if it has been thoroughly tested for bias. Even with the lack of information about the steps taken to correct possible bias, I would rate the shuffle as good at empire, however, Empire Poker lists things “such as network activity, time of the day and several other parameters” as the source of data for their PRNG seeds. Network activity may or not be a good casual enough source for seeds depending on how secure the network is, the time of day is completely insecure. We do not know what the other parameters are or where they come from, so we do not know rather or not they are secure sources. When Empire Poker was asked if they used any hardware solutions such as radioactive decay or background noise Empire Poker replied that they did not. Empire does not state the seed size so we have no way of knowing if they introduce enough entropy into their shuffle to insure there is no bias or that the seed is large enough to make a brute force attack difficult. Exactly how secure the shuffle is at Empire Poker depends entirely on the entropy(size) of the seed and the amount of insecure data that comes from sources such as the clock verses the amount of possibly casual enough data that comes from the “other parameters”. Empire Poker gets lacking ratings on both the quantity and quality of the information they have provided and for using the time of day as a source of data to produce seeds. |
